A rough second quarter doomed the varsity boys last night in City League action losing to Bowsher, 79-56. Bowsher went on a 23-5 run to take a comfortable lead into halftime. Caleb Allen scored 16 points while Jacoby Meyers added 11 points in the loss. The Spartans fall to 10-7 overall and 4-4 in the City League. Their next contest comes at Woodward on February 10th at 7:30 PM.
The JV team faced a double digit deficit in the 1st half only to roar back in the 2nd half to complete the win, 65-50. They scored 22 points in the 3rd quarter and 27 points in the 4th quarter to secure the City League win. Jake Baumgartner led all scorers with 14 points and the second half rally was keyed by Darius Kennedy-Bey who hit 3 3-pointers (9 points) and the hustle of Legend Tucker (8 points). The win evens their overall record at 8-8 and 5-3 in the City League.
The freshman boys held a 10 point lead with a few minutes to go and held on to survive a last second 3 point attempt to win, 48-45. Adrian Michael had 16 points while Antoine Adams added 14 points in the win. The freshman move to 11-2 overall and 7-1 in the City League.
