In a battle to the end, the Start Spartans showed why they belonged in taking on TRAC co-champion Lima Senior at UT Savage Arena last night. Despite leading by 3 heading into the 4th quarter, the other Spartans got hot from 3-point range and defeated the Start Spartans 51-48 in front of a crowd of over 3,000 people.
Facing adversity again early on, the Spartans responded by shutting down the high powered Lima offense to just 4 points in the 2nd quarter taking a 16-14 halftime lead. The Spartans increased their lead to 3 at the end of the 3rd on a huge play by Adrian Michael but Lima knocked down some key shots and dominated the boards in the 4th quarter to take the victory.
The Spartans were trying to knock off their third consecutive TRAC foe after defeating St. Francis and Whitmer in the district tournament last week. The Spartans season ends at 22-4 overall and set a school record for wins and its first ever district title in school history for boys.
Adrian Michael netted 16 points while Dashad Floyd added 11 points and Alex Perry had 10 points.
