The Start Spartans have hit a tough road recently when it comes to OHSAA tournament play and they did all they could last night to end that streak but came up short losing to the visitors from Southview, 5-1 in sectional play. Southview struck early scoring a run in the top of the 1st inning but pitcher Robbie Sapp settled in for the next 3 innings to keep the score within reach. The Spartans had bases loaded in the bottom of the 4th with no outs but couldn’t cut into the 2-0 deficit only to see Southview score 3 more runs in the following innings to secure the victory.
Sapp led the way with two hits on the day as the Spartans hit the ball hard all day but just couldn’t produce the runs they were hoping for.
The loss send their record to 16-8 overall with two regular season games remaining.
