Congratulations to both the boys and girls track teams as they competed today at St. Francis De Sales High School in the district track meet. The girls finished in 6th place over all with 63 points while the boys placed 11th with 19 points.
The girls team once again dominated the relay events winning 3 relays including the exciting finish in the 4 x 400m relay (Franklin, Roe, Worthy, Gardner) in which Mia Gardner ran the final leg passing her opponent on the final curve and then holding her off down the stretch to win at the finish line by .19 seconds. They also easily won the 4 x 200m relay (Ragland, Smith, Worthy, Fizer) and the 4 x 100m relay (Ragland, Worthy, Ricks, Fizer). CeCe Fizer placed 3rd in the 100m dash while both Mia Gardner (3rd) and Amari Franklin (4th) qualified in the 400m dash.
On the boys side, the 4 x 200m relay team (Jones, Mitchell, Patterson, McMillian) placed 2nd overall and also placed 3rd in the 4 x 100m relay (Jones, Mitchell, Patterson, McMillian).
They will next compete at the Regional tournament on Wednesday, May 22nd at Amherst-Steele High School in Lorain, Ohio.
Great job by both teams!
