Boys Varsity Basketball · Spartans fall in City Title game

The Start Spartans were on the verge of payback after two regular season losses to the Rogers Rams but an 11 point lead disappeared late in the 2nd half eventually losing to the Rams, 50-44. TJ Showers and Adrian Michael put on a show but it wasn’t enough to propel the Spartans to their 3rd consecutive City League championship.

Showers finished with 16 points while Michael chipped in with 15 points but costly turnovers and foul trouble plagued the Spartans.

The Spartans seemed in control late in the 3rd quarter but the Rams mounted a comeback from which the Spartans could not recover. The Spartans finish with an overall record of 18-4 with 3 of those losses coming to the Rams.

They are next in OHSAA sectional action at Rossford High School on Friday, February 28th. Their opponent will be Clay High School and game time is set for 8:00 PM. Tickets are $6.00 for adults and $4.00 for students. No passes are permitted for this game.
