Spartans News · Spartans defense holds back the Indians

In a tough, defensive battle the Spartans rose to the occasion several times to gain their first victory of the season last night defeating Waite, 13-2. The defense was put in a bind a few times but never surrendered a point with the only points coming on a late safety.

Jay’shon McKinney (1 TD) was the workhorse out of the backfield while Corey Robinson hooked up with senior WR Kaleb Wanamaker for a touchdown pass to put the game out of reach. The game was tied 0-0 at halftime but the Spartans made enough plays in the end to run their record to 1-1.

Congratulations to Coach Godfrey Lewis on his first varsity victory!

They next face the Scott Bulldogs on Friday, October 16th at 6:00 PM. The game is at Scott High School.
